My Mirror Self
My Mirror Self
(17/11/03)
I see myself in the mirror,
Who am I? What do I see?
I see a girl who hides many things,
Because she’s afraid to show,
Afraid that she’ll be mocked and scorned.
I see a girl who’s been criticized,
Many times in her short life.
This self doesn’t understand why,
People can’t accept her for who she is,
Can’t understand why they always,
Want her to change.
“I am myself,” I screamed,
To my mirror self,
But then again,
Who is myself? Who is the real me?
I see myself in the mirror,
Who am I? What else do I see?
Though there are many criticism,
There are also good traits in she,
Who stares back at me.
I see a girl who has lots,
To offer to the world.
I see a girl who’s willing to accept,
The challenges of the world.
This self bounces back from all the troubles,
Who’s never willing to give up,
And understand that though people,
Doesn’t accept the person she is,
She is always there to accept herself.
“I am myself,” I said again,
To my mirror self,
“And for bad or good,”
“I will forever accept that.”
